STOCKHOLM — Deputy PM Vu Khoan has invited Swedish entrepreneurs to Viet Nam for trade and investment promising to pull out all the stops to make the country business-friendly.

Speaking at a business forum in the Swedish capital Stockholm on Monday, he assured them, "our Government will create all conditions needed for your business success, which will cement the Viet Nam-Sweden friendship".

The forum was held as part of an event titled Viet Nam Day in Sweden, which was organised by the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Swedish-backed company Comvik International Viet Nam AB.

Viet Nam was an emerging market with a population of 80 million which was rapidly modernising, Khoan reminded the delegates. This generated huge demand for machinery and equipment, technology, capital and materials which Sweden could supply, he said. "Viet Nam is an ideal destination for Swedish tourists.

You are always welcome to Viet Nam."

The Deputy PM also thanked the Government and people of Sweden for their friendship with Viet Nam.

The event, which drew over 250 Swedish business representatives and 100 Vietnamese government officials, aimed to showcase investment, trade, export and tourism opportunities in Viet Nam.

The Viet Nam Day in Sweden is an initiative of the Kinnevik-Comvik Group to promote the image and culture of Viet Nam and investment opportunities for Swedish entrepreneurs.

Besides the business forum, there was also a gala charity dinner featuring traditional and contemporary Vietnamese music performances, a fashion show, Vietnamese food, and a painting exhibition and auction.

The function, which hoped to bring Swedes a taste of Viet Nam, was held at the Stockholm City Hall, venue of the annual Nobel Prize ceremony. — VNS
