Party leader affirms comprehensive co-operation with Cuba

The friendship, solidarity and comprehensive co-operation between Vietnam and Cuba will be further developed, said Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh while receiving a Cuban Communist Party delegation, led by CPC Politburo member and Vice President of the State Council Jose Ramon Machado Ventura in Hanoi on Wednesday.

The Party leader expressed his thanks to the Party, the State and the people of Cuba for their assistance and support to Vietnam.

He also expressed his belief that the Cuban people under the leadership of the Communist Party of Cuba (CPC) will overcome any difficulties and trials to successfully build a socialist country.

He asked Ventura to convey his best regards to President Fidel Castro and other Cuban Party and State leaders.

Mr Ventura expressed the Cuban people's respect to President Ho Chi Minh. He praised the Vietnamese revolution's achievements and experiences under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

The Cuban Party official affirmed Cuba's determination to build and foster its friendship and solidarity with Vietnam.

The Cuban delegation was received by Vice State President Truong My Hoa the same day.

It held talks with a CPV delegation led by Politburo member and Secretary of the Party Central Committee (PCC) Tran Dinh Hoan, and had working sessions with the leaders of the PCC's Inspection Commission and Commission for External Relations and the Party Committees of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

Viet Nam, Cuba should further cooperation, says PM Khai

Viet Nam and Cuba should further boost their bilateral cooperation, Prime Minister Phan Van Khai told visiting Cuban Minister Ricardo Cabrisas in Ha Noi on Thursday.

PM Khai expressed his belief that the Inter-governmental Commission would work more practically and effectively to reach the target. He praised the cooperation projects between the two countries on biotechnology and shipbuilding in Viet Nam.

He added that Viet Nam will send a number of businessmen to Cuba and other countries in the region to study the market and promote trade.

Minister Ricardo Cabrisas expressed his wish to push cooperation between the two countries to a new level and stated that Cuba support Viet Nam's accession to the World Trade Organisation (WTO).-Enditem
